Let's talk about... Tokyo DisneySea

Tokyo DisneySea is the second park that's part of Tokyo Disney Resort and it's unique to Japan, with an unique layout and some rides you can only find in this park.
This park consists on seven lands, or ports of call: Mediterranean Harbor, Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery and American Waterfront.
This park was intended to be a more adult-themed park with faster and scarier rides and with shows designed for a more adult audience. Also, alcohol is also sold in this park. That doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do if you go there with kids!
The main difference between Tokyo DisneySea and other castle Disney parks is the big volcano in the center of the park which holds inside one of the main attractions in the park.

Mediterranean Harbor

Mediterranean Harbor is the port of call closest to the entrance of the park. Many of the big merchandise shops are in this area and it's inspired in Italy. All the buildings in Mediterranean Harbor are part of Hotel MiraCosta so, if you stay there, you could be lucky enough to stay in one of the rooms with a view to the park. This area really feels like you're in Portofino or Venice. The main attraction is the Venetian Gondolas. The "parades" in DisneySea are actually more like shows, and the floats are ships. All the seasonal parade-shows and the night show Fantasmic! take place in Mediterranean Harbor.

Mysterious Island

This port of call is inside Mount Prometheus and it's inspired in the Jules Verne novels. So much so that the two attractions in this area are called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth. There's also a pretty big restaurant that specializes in Chinese food.

Mermaid Lagoon

Mermaid Lagoon is home to the Little Mermaid characters. From the outside it looks like a castle and it's actually an indoor, underground area where most of the rides for children are located. Even if you don't have kids, I really recommend visiting this area. The main attraction is actually a show that's performed at the Mermaid Lagoon Theater. The show has been recently renewed and the new show is called King Triton's concert. It's a very popular show and it's included in the FastPass system.

Arabian Coast

Arabian Coast is loosely based on Agrabah, the central location for the movie Aladdin. There are 4 main rides in this area: Jasmine Flying Carpets; Caravan Carousel, a double decker Merry-go-round; The Magic Lamp Theater, which houses a show with a combination of live action, animatronics and a 3D movie; and Simbad's Sotrybook Voyage, a dark ride in some ways similar to It's a Small World. I really recommend this last one. I went to the park several times before I knew much about it but it really is a very nice ride!

Lost River Delta

Lost River Delta is loosely inspired on Indiana Jones adventures, with an Aztec pyramid as it central piece which is also the house of the Indiana Jones dark ride. Another ride you can find here is Raging Spirits, a roller coaster with a loop.

Port Discovery

This port of call has a very Steampunk feeling to it. The main two attractions are Aquatopia and StormRider (StormRider will be closed in May 2016 to be replaced by a Finding Nemo/Finding Dori attraction similar to StormRider that will open in 2017). In the picture above is DisneySea Electric Railway which joins this area and American Waterfront.

American Waterfront

The last port of call is American Waterfront and it's inspired in American ports in the 1920s. It's possibly the largest "lands" of the park, dominated by a big passenger ship, the SS Columbia. In front of the ship one can enjoy various shows and inside there's a restaurant. DisneySea Electric Railway departs from this area towards Port Discovery. The main attractions are the Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania which is located within its own small area called Toyville Trolley Park.
Duffy has it's own little area, too. It's called Cape Cod and it's located between American Waterfront and Port Discovery.

I hope you enjoyed this post, Next coming, how to buy tickets for the parks!
